It's that glorious time of the year where guilt and a sense of social pressure bring waves of people looking to make a change. Here are some tips to make sure you start 2017 the right way.
Don't be the person to start 'dry January’.
Don't cut out all processed foods.
Don't be the person who starts consuming meal replacement drinks and low-calorie meals.
Don't be the person to buy a sh*t load of supplements and waist trainers.
Don't be the person to buy that six-pad ab machine Ronaldo is promoting.
Don't be the person to set the goal of training every day of the week, when you before had never set foot in a gym.
Don't be that person. Because I've seen it countless times in my life. It all ends in one thing. Failure.
Start off making small changes to your nutrition and training that you can see yourself doing day in day out.
Do consume a little bit more water than usual.
Do start reducing the consumption of processed foods and foods high in sugar.
Do start eating a little bit more protein than usual.
Do start consuming single ingredient foods.
Do start exercising 3 times a week.
Do include a mixture of cardio and resistance in your training sessions. Even if your goal is weight loss.
Trust me, you won't fall off the bandwagon mid-January like the rest of them. Before you know it, it will be February and you will be a little bit closer to your goal. Reassess the situation in February and adjust goals. I hate the word diet, as that implies it’s a short term fix. Make changes that fit into your lifestyle, and you may be surprised to find where you are in summer 2017.
